St. Carolus Hospital
Precast system has chosen as main strucuture in a new St. Carolus Hospital building, in Salemba-Jakarta. Precast works on this major hospital complex, conceived by PT Wika Beton Tbk., recently got under way.
St. Carolus Hospital new building will incorporate a car park facilities on three basement levels and eight level floors as a medical facilties with total floor area is a 24,345 m2. The main structure is using precast half beam, precast column and Hollow core slab as flooring system. All precast building is produced in Wika Beton Concrete Plant at Bogor West Java.
Precast column connection is using mechanical coupler (splice Sleeve) for splicing reinforcing bars which uses a cylindrical shaped steel sleeve filled with a non-shrink high early strength grout. Reinforcing bars to be spliced are inserted into the sleeve to meet approximately at the center of the sleeve. The interior of the sleeve is then filled with grout.
The connection between precast beams and column is established with unbonded post-tensioning through the center of the joint, and field placement of mild steel reinforcement in ducts across the precast joint interfaces close to the top and bottom beam surface. This column beam connection system known as Precast Seismic Structural System
This building is constructing in a active hospital complex which demand less air pollution, noise and waste in construction site. Precast offers a safer and healthier working environment which is best sollution with project requierement. Precast beam, column and floors are produced in precast plant and transported to a construction site ready-to-install. Logistics to building site is arranged with just one delivery vehicle instead of several raw material transfers back and forth.
As an industrially produced building material, precast is always of the highest quality, material handling is easier and less scaffolding is needed and also compared to cast-in-situ, precast uses less of everything – less cement, less water, less steel, and less labor. It produces less waste on the site and in the factory. This improves productivity and quality and shortens construction time of a building.
